The University of Amsterdam offers two payment modalities : a legal fee and an institutional fee. The payment of one or the other is determined according to several issues, but the main one is the student’s nationality. Therefore, students who belong to countries of the European Union, nations of the European Economic Area, Switzerland or Suriname, pay the legal rate. In this case, the tuition fee is much lower, since they have a subsidy from the Government of the Netherlands. Instead, students of other nationalities must pay the institutional rate . The amount to pay per year varies in each faculty. But broadly speaking, tuition fees range from $9,498 USD to $25,601 USD per year, with the most economical being the programs at the Faculty of Humanities and the most expensive being those at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. In addition to this, the monthly amount to pay for daily expenses in Amsterdam ranges from $1,092 to $1,770 USD per month . They include accommodation, books, public transportation, health insurance, and general expenses.
The first thing to keep in mind is that you need a permit to enter the Netherlands. However, you will have no problem getting it if you are accepted by the university, since one of the things that will be sent to you is an admission letter. Please note that some programs have limited places . That is why a selection process is carried out through Studielink, the platform for admission to higher education centers in the Netherlands. From your application you are assigned a number and, if it is outside the limit number of students, you will not be accepted, unless one of the accepted students does not continue with their enrollment process. As expected, you must have your high school certificate . In addition to this, you have to prove your command of English with one of the international tests.
